About Us
Anahata & Gina Katkin

We at PaPaYa! are devoted to creating luscious, brave, heart-centered artwork and high quality products. We feel the visual style of PaPaYa! has been so well received because it reflects the global culture that is synergistic with modern times. In this exciting point in history we have the luxury to explore a broader perspective and interlace it with art, culture and commerce. For us this is what it's all about!

We are a mother/ daughter team who have been brought together by more than family roots. We share the Vision of "Creative Abandon" by striving to bring inspiration & beauty into the far reaches of our business. "Creative Abandon" was originally applied as our moto as a way to affirm our changing moods and creative interests. PaPaYa! is intended to be our melting pot of ideas & curiosities with no appologies for being bold, varied, humorous, "inspirational" etc. Everything from life is welcome. Creative Abandon is our way of saying that no matter what may have been the precedent that PaPaYa! will follow creative impulse over trends or business strategy. That the end goal is always to feel enthralled with the evolutionary process and the act of creating art and goods.

As a child my (Anahata) mother, (Gina) hand batiked, quilted, costumed and skillfuly crafted stain glass designs in our Alaskan cabin. Through the years we both developed our creative talents, perspectives & purpose. Today we have come back together in a new time, paradigm, and thankfully a wonderful new climate, to bring creativity & spirit back to the market... and to fill a niche where (in our opinion) one has been missing.

In the beginning I began using primarily artwork that I had compiled within my years of art journaling. I adapted the pages for print at first and began to incorporate design more and more into the artwork. Over time my visual style has changed a lot. Today I still use my visual journals as a key to inform the designs within the PaPaYa! collection and to discover new ideas and inspirations that I want to express. For more about my creative process and a history of my journals visit www.AnahataArt.com.

My visual style in combination with my mothers creative-Super Woman business savvy & a fantastic group of PaPaYa! staff we have been able to team up for an unprecedented line of quirky, lovely, inspirational gift items for the stationery industry. We love what we do each day and hope you enjoy the fruits of our vision.
